Minimalism

Minimalism is when a person cuts down on the things that they use every day and only keeps the items that will benefit them in their lives. This means that a person only keeps things that improve their life. This was mentioned in the documentary that Joshua and Ryan made on Netflix. Minimalism is not when people just throw away items so they have more space because they are still keeping things that they think they’d use but not often. Some people would keep things that they would use later on but it doesn’t necessarily improve their day-to-day life. They think that everything is precious and that’s why they want to keep many things even if it isn’t helping them every day. One way to start getting rid of things that don’t add value to your life is by selling them. You should only be keeping the things that add value to your life and not the ones that are just using up space and adding clutter to your area. There is a difference between people that only keep things that they’ll use every day and then people that keep items they’ll eventually need. Minimalism is freedom because they have more space to have a clearer workspace. They are no longer focused on the mess that they would have with all the unnecessary items they keep in their homes and in their workspace. When someone becomes minimalist they are freer to do what they want. They are able to gain more control of what they actually need and not the things that they want. Since they are used to having a small number of items they are free to get rid of more things than a person who doesn’t know what they should and shouldn’t throw away. Minimalism is related to happiness because they are no longer worried about having to always clean up after themselves and clean all the things around their house. It would be something lifted off of their shoulders where they can always just come home and relax without the hassle of always cleaning up. They are also just able to walk into a home that is aesthetically pleasing which makes them happier since it’s something clean they see. After reading about what minimalism is and what it’s not, how do you think this could be implied in your life? What about our website?
